I dont get it?!

Some TV shows today have me scratching my head. Am I getting old or have my views changed... or both.

The TV show in which I am referring to is on the ABC Family Channel, its called The Secret Life of The American Teenager.

It is by the same people who created 7th Heaven... when I was a teenager I LOVED that show. Don't get me wrong The Secret Life is enjoyable BUT is it suitable for teens?

The Show is based upon a girl who gets pregnant in her Freshman year of High School. She keeps the baby and still dates, goes to school, etc. In my opinion I think its sending the wrong message to the teens.

Its NOT easy to have a baby and in no way is your life the same!

The show also talks about SEX... A LOT!!! I know sex is happening but the show makes it seem okay and that everyone that age is doing it. There is NO talk about the bad things that happen or could happen such as STDS and AIDS.

The one character that was a virgin/Christian gave in and had sex- which in realty does happen. So then the topic of masturbation came up and all the girls said NO to sex and yes to masturbate... which is fine. Not a big deal... BUT then all the girls got "bored" and "tired" of it and decided real sex is better.

DUH! (when your older)

but your what... 14 when your a freshman in High School??? I know I was NO angel when I was 14 but I wasn't having sex and I feel as though I had some good inspirational shows out there that were not about sex! 7th Heaven dealt with many teenage issues.... not ONLY sex.

If that's what teens are watching- not wonder the percentage of teen pregnancy has gone up! It looks cool to have sex, have babies, and to have multiple sexual partners! (Its not a bad thing to sleep with only 1 person- my husband is the ONLY person I have ever had sex with and its special and a bond that we have!)

Maybe I am the only one feeling this way... I just think this show should be geared towards an older crowd... and not on an ABC family network.

Sorry, just my opinion.
